A civil background check will uncover any civil (noncriminal) records on a subject (either an individual or a company), such as those related to bankruptcy, liens, and civil judgments. This information is critical to understanding a subject’s character and decision-making skills.

A County Civil Search is a thorough case review that includes all the following:

Upper state civil court searches—usually claims for more than $5,000
Lower state civil court searches—usually claims for less than $5,000
Federal civil court searches—usually citizen disputes with governmental agencies, civil rights cases, antitrust actions, or copyright claims
Federal bankruptcy court searches—checks U.S. bankruptcy courts using the federally managed PACER system and reports bankruptcy filings associated with Consumer that are currently pending or that were discharged in the last 10 years, subject to legal limitations

Breaches of contract, civil judgments, lawsuits of all kinds, paternity suits, domestic disputes, divorces, and restraining orders are examples of typical findings.

We recommend that these searches be combined with a Social Security Trace and an Address History to aid in populating county/jurisdictions.
